The Masterpiece - The Making of an Armor

Experience a Renaissance armor fit for a Vasa king up close and gain insight into the work behind this blacksmithing masterpiece. In the start of October 2024, Lödöse Museum will host a new temporary exhibition titled "The Masterpiece - The Making of an Armor."

In 2020, Sweden got its first master armorer in over 200 years when Albert Collins received his master craftsman certificate. The exhibition "The Masterpiece" is based on the fantastic work Albert has done to become a master.

In the exhibition, you will see the armor that Albert has created, based on Renaissance armors that belonged to Erik XIV. An educational sequence shows how the armor is crafted using similar tools that were used in the 1500s.

The exhibition demonstrates the work process from start to finish. The craftsmanship is brought to life through films, tools, and images that show the work in an armory workshop during the Renaissance. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to try on a gauntlet and hold a flintlock pistol.

"The Masterpiece - The Making of an Armor" will be on display at Lödöse Museum until the summer of 2025.
