Lödöse museum is still today, as in the Middle Ages, strategically and beautifully located by the Göta River. There is more to explore in our surroundings before or after your museum visit!

Lödöse has throughout history been an important hub for pilgrimages, due mainly to the fact that it was a port town. During the Middle Ages, pilgrims set off from Lödöse by boat to the continent and the major pilgrim destinations. The Museum has collections that include several objects that bear witness to this.

Lödöse museum is in the heart of Göta Älv valley, close to cities like Gothenburg, Trollhättan and Vänersborg. With just over half an hour drive from the west coast it is also close to the sea and all it has to offer. There is more to explore while you are here - Lödöse is a part of West Sweden!
