Visiting the museum independently
Lödöse Museum has free admission all year round. If you wish, you can take in the wonders of the Middle Ages entirely on your own. You are welcome to stroll around our exhibitions at your leisure, have a coffee in our cafeteria, or a visit our library.
You are welcome to discover the delights of our Museum Workshop, where you can try on mediaeval clothes or draw and paint. You can play with blocks, do puzzles, or read books in the reading corner, which has all manner of literature with a mediaeval theme. There is also a small mediaeval house, and a boat with wooden barrels and ropes to play with.
Exhibitions, cafeteria and shop
You can spend a whole day with us if you wish. Wander around the exhibitions and take a break for a coffee whenever you feel like it. Our cafeteria offers sandwiches and light lunches. You can also bring your own food with you, but you should first ask the staff where you can sit and eat it.
Our store perhaps has something that might take your fancy – it stocks a comprehensive selection of books, jewellery, handicrafts, glassware and quality toys. The cafeteria and the shop endeavour to offer as many organic and Fairtrade-labelled products as possible.
The store and cafeteria have the same opening hours as the museum.
Herb Garden and open areas
Outside the Museum Workshop is the Herb Garden, which during the summer becomes a verdant and harmonious oasis. Wander around and see what plants could be found in mediaeval herb gardens and how they could be used. Beyond the Herb Garden there is a large lawn with a barbecue if you want to cook your own food. You can even borrow stilts and other outdoor toys. Ask at the reception. Beside the museum’s outdoor cafeteria there is a sandpit and toys for younger children.
